I really don’t know if it’s something in the Wasabi or the Mount Fuji rainwater but Japanese creativity sometimes disturbs me. Why someone would want to rotoscope professional wrestlers and then composite them on to a cloud floating over an Alpine scene is beyond me. How would you even come up with that idea?

Of course, it’s addictive viewing and I’ve watched this video 50 times already.

A mother in the US is getting a whole lot of heat for taking her 5 year old daughter tanning on sunbeds. And yes, before you ask, people actually still do that. This lady clearly does it waaaay too much. Anyone who thinks that looks attractive is a danger to children, in my book! Hey lady, your daughter is a ginger. She’s practically allergic to daylight! You have no business bringing her within a block of a tanning salon.

This is a lovely uplifting video about what it is to be alive and what it means to be happy. It doesn’t answer any questions. It asks them. In fact, it suggests that, at the end of our lives, one of the most meaningful questions to ask is: “Did you enjoy your story?”.

It reminded me of a short film that Conor Horgan made a while back on Happiness. What is happiness? Most people don’t know. Some admit to it. Some talk shite. Either way nobody seems to be actively trying to work out what makes them happy and trying to achieve that.

TEA DANCE

Join me on Sunday afternoon for something different: The Emerald Warriors have their annual Tea Dance in The George from 3pm. There’s a Cake bake-off – which is delicious fun! – as well as Make & Do and a Céilí. Veda, Davina and Avryll Nitrate will be on hand to make the afternoon more fun. Let the eat cake and play ball!

Of course, Bingo will be on as usual later in the day. Expect an incoherent, stuffed cake-hole, fat bastard bingo show. Same as usual then!

3 Second Rule

WORST SONG EVER? This song is called “Three Second Rule”, as in the rule that your mother had for how long something could be on the floor before you could pick it up and put it in your mouth again. If this song was, say, a lollipop that had fallen on the floor, then the three second rule definitely applies. Sadly this song is on the floor for 3 minutes and thirty four seconds too many and it must be binned.

Here’s a pretty awesome a capella cover of Gotye’s Somebody That I Used to Know. That’s some bangin’ harmonies goin’ off right there… The vocal group are called Pentatonix and New Directions better hope they don’t run into these guys at Regionals!
