What is Shirley Temple bar’s Drag Academy?
Shirley Temple Bar’s DRAG ACADEMY is a collaborative project that is part drag queen finishing-school, part team competition and part personal challenge. The public part of the project will take place as part of my weekly Bingo show in The George from 16 October 2011.
- My challenge is to turn 12 students into DRAGUATES™ of Drag Academy by improving their confidence, their appearance and their performances.
- The students will complete a programme of assignments in order to earn enough Merit Badges to become DRAGUATES™.
- In teams called Houses, the students will compete against each other to win the ACADEMY CUP.
The students will be tutored by a panel of Mentors including Head Girl, Shirley Temple Bar (That’s me!) and they will be evaluated by special Academy Inspectors whenever they appear on stage. Merit Badges will be awarded, whenever earned, at Bingo and points towards the Academy Cup will be awarded or deducted – Hogwarts-style – by Academy Mentors whenever they feel fit.
