Thank You for The Days

This could turn out to be hilarious, romantic or very dangerous

Every year, Alternative Miss Ireland produces a “full colour, beautifully designed, collectable commemorative Calendar for the year ahead…. This year, AMI is selling off every single day in the 13-Month AMI Calendar, 18 March 2011 – 31 March 2012.

You get up to a total of 280 characters per day, and you can say whatever you want to say. It could be a birthday message, a memory of a love lost, a message to Taylor Lautner, a secret code, or a tranny rant.

Twice as long as a Tweet, but lasts so much longer. Once a date is sold, it will be gone forever. You can even buy a whole week, or spread yourself throughout the year and buy a day per month – so many ways to spread your love (or whatever it is that you are spreading). Don’t miss out on this once-in-a-tranny-lifetime opportunity!

At €20 per day, all proceeds from selling messages on this year’s calendar go directly to HIV/AIDS organisations so it’s all for a very good cause. Go HERE to book your date..

IT GOT BETTER?

At the weekend, a video by a young kid called Jonah who was struggling with being bullied at school went viral. Even Lady Gaga was tweeting about it. Well, another video has surfaced of a much happier kid* explaining that the first video was made 4 months ago and that he is now in a much better place. He brags that “Everyone at school likes me now” while a spooky-eyed girl-friend nods her encouragement. He also mocks the commentators that called him “gay”, saying that it was pretty obvious. Strangely, the idea that he might be in a more confident (if not even cocky) place has sent some people crazy with indignation. Admittedly, he might not have expressed himself as poetically as he did when he tearfully held cards up to the camera revealing his pain but I can’t help thinking how ironic it is that people are hating on him because he seems not to be suicidal anymore.

It seems that the Internet only likes gay kids when they are vulnerable and suicidal.

Ireland’s rugby team for the gays*, the Emerald Warriors have kicked off their annual fundraising drive to keep them in oddly shaped balls and gear**. The boys came to my show last to launch their calendar for 2012. It’s a slick calendar, with more airbrushing than a Panti poster*** The photos – which these are not! -  are a cross between a Dieux de Stade calendar and images from a Jean Paul Gaultier ad campaign. It comes over all Pierre et Gilles – as, indeed, do I… Regularly. Read more

THIS MADE ME CRY

Mainly because I’m hormonal. And I am a sap. But this made me cry. It’s a beautiful, short from Australian marriage equality group Get Up! It’s called It’s Time. And it is, isn’t it? End marriage discrimination now. Or something.
